Sustainable Chicago is a quarterly digital magazine published online by Index Publishing Corporation. It’s mission is to educate the architecture, construction and related communities on green building trends, products and practices. Every issue features in-depth profiles of green buildings and spaces, as well as information on the latest tools, materials and strategies for sustainability.
Sustainable-Chicago.com also publishes more frequent news items regarding green building and sustainability, in addition to upcoming events, seminars and educational opportunities on designing and building with environmental consciousness in mind.
Sustainable Chicago is affiliated with the annual Building Green Chicago Conference that Index Publishing hosts, working with the City of Chicago and leaders in sustainable design and development.

5. How do I obtain reprints of a single article?
Sustainable Chicago is available free online, so feel free to print those articles you wish (though please consider the environment before printing). Promotional reprints can be arranged separately. Please contact our editorial staff for more information.
6. I am a student and would like to quote a section from an article in my thesis. Is this allowed?
We are happy for students to quote text from Sustainable Chicago magazine for their educational coursework. Acknowledgement should be given as: “© Sustainable Chicago (issue date).” Permission should be sought if the work is to be published.

You can search for any article using the search box at the top of each page. All previous articles and posts are available in our online archive.

Our diverse range of readers includes architects, designers, engineers, developers, brokers, building owners, attorneys and manufacturers, as well as government officials and educational institutions.
12. How do I submit a manuscript to Sustainable Chicago?
Sustainable Chicago accepts unsolicited manuscripts sent via email or postal mail and will consider them for publication. Please include your name, address, telephone number and email address with your submission. All submissions will be acknowledged by email. If you have not been notified within three weeks that your submission has been accepted or is under serious consideration for publication, you may assume that we cannot use your submission. Sustainable Chicago cannot accept responsibility for unsolicited manuscripts or materials of any kind and manuscripts will not be returned. We cannot offer payment for articles at this time.
Please read past issues of Sustainable Chicago to familiarize yourself with our mission, style and tone. All submissions should be between 750 and 1,500 words in length, though we will consider longer articles. If you have high quality photos or illustrations to accompany your submission, we will consider these as well. All submissions will be edited for style and length. On very rare occasions, Sustainable Chicago reprints with permission articles from other publications, but as a rule we do not accept manuscripts that have been published or accepted elsewhere.
Index Publishing retains all copyrights to works selected for publication.
